12/07/2005 Dear Kissin' Cousin Renee:
I don't know if we're cousins or closer kin, but I'd kiss you if I could! You're such a blessing to everyone you know-particularly to us here online! I can always count on you to get your dander up if somebody insults yours or anyone else's honor & put every smart alec that gets too big for his britches back in his seat & to brighten everybody's day in one way or another, Renee'! I'm trying to send this just to you at your e-mail & not broadcast it on the whole website because it's not strictly about Stanley music & I really try to stick to music & music-related stuff there. I've got the bad type of cancer, it's malignant, & they're doing 2 additional biopsies & a cat scan on 12/14 & 12/15. I knew in my heart this wasn't going to be good news from the 1st biopsy & this stuff is very lethal if it spreads. We think we've caught it before it had an opportunity to spread at all. We'll know more when the results of the next 2 more serious biopsies come back & the cat scan results are back & then I'm going to an oncologist to try & stop it. I truly believe it's been caught at exactly the right time to keep it from costing me my life-it just didn't have enough time to spread or it would have as this kind always does & this type melanoma is the type that causes all the deaths from cancer. You & your kids & hubby have a great holiday season & just keep me in your prayers. I believe we are all in God's hands & He knows what he's doing & this is happening for a reason that will somehow work out for the good of us all in the end. I may not post on the website often, but when I can I'll send you a private note to keep you up to date. I just won't know anything probably until 2-3 days before Christmas when the lab results come back-it may even be after the Holidays before they're back I'm told. I'm banking on the fact that both doctors I've seen say this was caught before it had an opportunity to metastisize & there's no evidence it's spread at all but they're doing to do the more extensive tests JUST to be certain & I'm going forward based on those statements from them. I'm still trying to study for my Bar exam in February & getting ready for my daughter & the Yum Yum Kids (my grandchildren) to visit the week after Christmas.
