You obviously haven't played very much of the game if you think this. First-level manamon are practically useless; both stat-wise and ability-wise. There is also the fact that you will run into something that your manamon is weak to and get destroyed from the get-go.
The only time a first-level manamon is acceptable is if you breed something. By that point in the game, you have other, more powerful, manamon that you can use to cover for the weakness.
