I’m not actually sure Devin since I don’t know about the google home thing.
One of our forum members said many, though not all Alexa skills were available
on google assistant, but how this corresponds to the google home mini I don’t
know.

All the best,

Dark.

I just got a Google Home Mini yesterday. Any games for that?

I’m afraid Paul I find Itunes to be the spawn of satan since it’s nearly
impossible to get files out of it, plus the hole organisation with artist,
album genre etc is just not the way I like to organise my own music, so for me
it’s all about owining the actual files, still I can download these from the
amazon player even if I buy something through them.

I am thinking about Prime however, firstly for ordering (since I’ve ordered
several things),  secondly because ordering by voice would be rather nice, and
thirdly because I like the idea of streaming videos for tv series I don’t want
to own on dvd, indeed even though prime is 80 quid a year over here (that’s
about 120 dollars), that is still about the same as a Uk tv license.

So, if you know if there is a way I can  see what tv series are  available
through prime video and how many I might be interested in that could be good,
plus of course since I just paid four quid postage and packing to order a
present for my brother the free delivery would be handy too, indeed I’m finding
the order service rather useful (I found a Mega man Gameboy game I’ve been
looking for for literally 18 years).

hi dark,
Yeah, I was pretty impressed to find a swamp trivia game on there, although
since I’ve never made it off the first map I failed at the quiz as soon as it
started asking questions about the later maps. As for music through the echo,
I’ve got the full echo and the sound qualities actually pretty good, I think
you said you’ve got the dot,  which although it can play music  it definitely
won’t be as good as your headphones or other speakers. I think if you ask alexa
about amazon music  unlimited she’ll offer you a free one month trial, but
you’ve then got to remember to go in and cancel it so you don’t get charged
after the trial. Spotify is definitely better though, but like you I do like
owning the actual files myself, but my iPhone storage just isn’t big enough to
store all my music  , so since I’m often out with the guide dog and like to
listen to music when I’m out and about Spotify works well for having all the
music I want at my fingertips.

Lol paul, swamp trivia? That is rather cool.

I’ve heard Spotify has a  semi decent selection of music and can do a better
job than Amazon, though  as I said I still prefer to own the actual files
myself and not be tied to a service so I can play them on whatever device I
like, plus my  pc, either through surround sound speakers or my  sanheisa
momentum headphones is likely better quality than I’d get out of the Echo.

Still, that’s one reason I wanted to investigate what else I can do with the
thing.
I’ll admit it would’ve  wouldn’t have been  my first choice of technology, (I
think an Apple watch might have been more useful), but as my brother gave me
the thing | I felt a bit bad at not getting some! Good out of it, which is why
I’ve investigated so many skills and different functions and such, and I will
say Mrs. Dark and I are having fun with the thing, also it’s a nice way to get
the news from the bbc or sky news without having toremember to tune in to a
radio at a specific time since we don’t have a tv.

All the best,

Dark.

Hi Dark,

Well if you want to try the guess   who you’re thinking  of thing, just ask
alexa ‘ can you read my mind’, she’ll then ask you to think of a character or
person and she’ll then try to guess who it is. But like you said I think that’s
more of a software feature than an actual game, as although it’s a little novel
to start with its not something you’d really  go back to time and again like a
game. Oh, and I don’t think it was on your list, again not really sure it’s a
game  but there is a swamp trivia  skill on the echo too. I have to say I
actually really like the echo, if nothing else since I’ve already got a Spotify
account it’s a really good speaker, , but even more impressed with it now after
seeing all the games you’ve found on it.

Hi Paul.

Glad you like the list, there are some good things in there both for short and
long games.
I did see   the option to play 20 questions with Alexa which  I’ve not tried
yet, though again I’m not sure if that counts as a game or a  software
function, still Mrs. Dark and I will have to try it out, actually the Alexa is
proving good for her since she enjoys trivia and word games.

All the best,

Dark.

Thanks Dark, that’s a serious amount of games you’ve tried out there, I’ve had
my echo for almost a year and only tried one of those games, some sound really
good though  so I’ll be giving them a go, thanks for taking the time to write
the list and adding descriptions and reviews. It’s not quite a game so probably
doesn’t belong on your list, but my little boy quite likes the built in echo
function where you think of a person and the echo then asks you questions to
work out and guess who you’re thinking of. It’s actually quite clever, me and
my little boy were trying to give it things it probably wouldn’t be able to
work out, but it managed to even guess the name of some  fairly  obscure
things, such as utubers , cartoon  characters, gods   and it even guessed when
we were thinking alexa  and siri haha

For anyone who hasn’t seen the recent audiogames.net news, I have  finally! Got
the Echo dot my brother bought me last Christmas out and am doing something
sort of half way useful with it 😃
Yes, I admit this is quiteridiculous in terms of time but better very very
verrrrry veeeeery~! Late than never 😃.

Ihave therefore been having a hunt through Alexa skills (well those available
on in the Uk app store, damn those developers who region lock there’s), and
making short descriptions and notes about them.

Since most of the skills are short games, this is an easy way to get a list.
Eventually they will probably get db pages, but there are a lot of them, and
just one of me, so I thought this was a nice way to let people know sooner,
especially if, like me your wondering what actual good the Amazon machine will
do if you don’t want to pay amazon 80 quid a year for the privilege of buying
from them and find the idea of renting music (of which they only have the top
40 crap anyway), a really terrible one 😃.

The list can be found here:

http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=342844#p342844

It will be updated a as I try more things out, and of course any suggestions of
things to try are most welcome.

All the best,

Dark.
