This past Friday my avast ran out and when I tried to access it, I found
that its no longer accessible with jaws; Mse is a good choice to use in its
place.

I don't know, maybe free avast version6 is the last free version that will
work with Jaws. If that's the case, maybe I'll go back to version6. I'm
also open for ideas.
