You will still need Itunes but the easiest way to download things to the
iphone are from the ap store on the phone itself. Itunes will be used for
other things. But downloading, installing and updating aps is much easier to
do from the phone.

In order to do this you need to download and install the latest version of
iTunes on your PC. You'll be able to interact between your PC and iPhone or
any other iOS device in all sorts of ways.
