Yes, I've imaged plenty a drive. I make a DVD image once a month and create
an image to external backup by-weekly. I've also used these images to
restore full hard drive images.

It amazes me how in fact it does seem to make an identical image. Using
Norton Ghost I would still have to end up reauthorizing jaws even though it
was suppose to be an exact image. With Image for Windows I do not need to
authorize anything at all and jaws comes up working just like before.

I don't know about this silent restore thing, but when restoring an image I
need only enter my password and accept the 2 or 3 prompts and off it goes.
Its easiest if you partition your oS to C:\ and place personal files in
another partition. When something goes wrong you need only restore C:\ and
your OS is back in about 20 minutes. The benefit is that in Windows XP you
can use 1 dual-layer DVD-r to create the backup. For Windows 7 you will need
2 disks. It will vary depending on what you have installed. You will not get
any audio when restoring an image as it all happens before going into
windows so your screen reader does not exist at this point.

Have you imaged a drive yet? Also do you know if this can be run in silent
mode (restore a drive with no user interaction)?

I can't recall if I did this or not, but if it's a matter of a simple
process I'd go with it. Its merely trying to anticipate problems in the
future though I understand the temptation to move on.

I just downloaded the trial version. One of the default install options is
to create a dos recovery disc. Is this necessary? I am using windows 7 32
bit.
