There may also be some security options set in OE that prevent u from activating links. Go to tools > options & control tab to the security page to fix those.
It is ill-advised to click on links contained in emails, though lots of folks do it--including me sometimes. Obviously I am very reasonably assured the link is safe. Try copying & pasting into your browser. If that works, then suspect OE options are preventing u from doing this.
