Chances are it will just install next time with no problem! You did not say
which version of Windows you are using. Here is one article from PC World,
mostly geared for XP. I do not expect that you will need this. It happens
most of the time on major updates like Service Paks.

It should just keep retrying! Occasionally, if the error is very serious,
the update may get "stuck" and try forever. In this rare case, check
back,
there is a Microsoft article on how to clear this out as well, which I can
look up.

I think this is a dumb question but I am going to ask it any way.
when a windows update fails to install properly and your settings for
windows update is set to update automatically will the update that failed
to install properly, install again on it's own or do I have to manually
instal it?
