Mark:

You will need to install the Windows driver for the embosser before you can use it. The sound that you hear when you plug in the parallel adapter is that of Windows recognizing the adapter only. Once the embosser driver is installed, you may need to go into the embosser properties, under the ports tab and select the USB to parallel adapter as the active port for the embosser. Once the embosser driver is properly loaded, it will show up as a printer choice within your applications software.

Hi John and the list,
I now plugged in the adapter and started the blazie embosser and as best as I can tell everything is electronically connected. I when to HjPad and typed in a short sentence and tried to Braille it. The embosser did not come up in the list of possible printer choices. What do I do next?
Thank you in advance for your help.

God bless,

It is very likely that the drivers are already built-in to Windows. Go ahead and try it.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Installing USB to Parallel port adapter questions

Hi
I just bought an older Braille embosser. I also bought the
USB to Parallel port adapter. So I can connect the embosser to my vista home addition computer. When I plug the adapter in to the computer I hear the connect sounds. However, the disk that came with the cable is mystifying. Will I need to install the drivers of from this disk or do you think the cable/ adapter will work any way.

    Thank you.

God bless,

Mark
