Not sure if this point has been made yet, but if you are talking of a jack socket next to the CD/DVD drawer, on some machines, the output to that comes direct from the player rather than from the sound card and so only plays what is coming from your cd/dvd drive. In fact, you will still find the odd computer where there is a volume control there as well...

You might try putting a music CD in the player with headphones plugged in to the jack in question, just to rule that out...

I'm probably talking rubbish, but give it a whirl just in case...

All the best,
Barry G

Hi, thanks, but I tried that, it's not working. The speakers nor the headphones work in either of the front two jacks, even if there's nothing plugged into the jacks on the back of the computer.
Any other ideas, maybe?

Kate

On most computers I have used the front jacks will not work if the back
jacks are being utilised. Have you got speakers plugged in at the back?

Subject: [Blind-Computing] head phone jack not working

Hi, I have found that the speaker/headphone jack at the front of my computer do not work. This is a year and a half old computer and I don't believe I've ever tried using these jacks before, so I do not know if they just have been
disabled this whole time or what. Is there a way to check on this issue
and/or enable the functionality of this jack?

Kate
