Hi. For some reason my favorites aren't appearing when I'm in Internet
Explorer in Vista. The add favorites and organize favorites links are there
when I go to the favorites menu. But even so, when I click on add and
organize nothing happens except it closes and goes back to the Web page I
was on.

Before this trouble, I moved all my favorites off my lap top and onto a
portable hard drive, and later I tried to put them back. Why I did this is
a long story, and wasn't a great idea anyway. In any case, I'm not sure
where they go. I forget where they were. there is a favorites folder under
my user name, but I'm almost certain that is not for internet Explorer
favorites but is for another type of favorites that Vista keeps track of, (a
new feature Vista introduced) I've put them there, then I tried under
documents, and a few other places with no success WHEN I check for them
again in Internet Explorer.

When I originally moved them off then back on the computer, I copied the
actual favorites out of Windows explorer rather than importing or exporting
the favorites. I DID try importing them, but the import export wizard won't
let me. I may have to do a system restore to resolve this since it was
working ok 'til I began to jack with it. That or if there is a way to reset
the favorites default. Thanks for any thoughts.

Hi Chris,

I don't know if this will help. I copied My Favorites from my 98
machine into XP without any problems and I am assuming that you can
do the same copying from XP to vista.

1. Go into your application data in documents and settings on the XP
machine.

2. open up My Favorites.

3,. Do select all (CTRL+A)

4. Copy the selected favorites (CTRL+C)

5. Paste the copied favorites (CTRL+V) into a flash disc or some
external storage device.

6. Connect whatever device you used into the Vista machine.

7. Select all and copy the My Favorites from your storage device.

8. Open up your My Favorites folder on the Vista machine and paste
the selected items there.

You should have only one My Favorites folder on your Vista machine.

I don't have Vista, but I would think that this would work. Remember,
don't copy the folder name from your XP machine, instead copy the
favorites short-cuts.

HTH,

Lennie
