Public bug reported: See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/backintime/+bug/507246
I think correct failure handling should be about the number #1 requirement for a backup software, just behind being able to do a backup and a restore. If the backup SW doesn't notice when it fails to do a backup that puts a big question mark behind it's reliability and thus utility.
