Nice, calm, and clear conditions greeted birders this morning along with a lot of birdsong. A FISH CROW was reported at the Tip along with an AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN and a RED-HEADED WOODPECKER.
Many TENNESSEE WARBLERS are singing and some were kind enough to show themselves today! We've had 22 species of warbler including BLACKPOLL, several PROTHONOTARY WARBLERS continuing, and lots of BLACKBURNIANS WARBLERS. Two BLACK-BILLED CUCKOOS were seen on Woodland Nature Trail and one on Shuster Trail. A YELLOW-THROATED VIREO was seen on the Shuster Trail. There has also been a report of an adult MISSISSIPPI KITE seen at Kopegaron Woods. Several people are keeping their eyes to the sky hoping it will make its way into the park. -- Good Birding, Alan Watson, Aaron Brisebois, Chris Earley, Dale Wenger, Dana Latour, Emma Burbidge, Eric Baldo, Gabriel Foley, Jean Iron, Justin Peter, Kyle Horner, Mike Kent, Pete Read, Quinten Wiegersma, Stewart MacDonald, Tim Arthur, William Konze The 2024 Festival of Birds runs May 1 - 22.
