The birders which braved the winds noted a Sanderling, a few Dunlin. Also seen were two Lesser Black-backed Gulls. Early on it was birdie on the west side near the Tip, but it had settled off as the morning progressed. Other areas where birds were noted were Botham Loop, Woodland Trail, West Beach Trail but birding was generally spotty. About 18 species of warbler have been noted thus far including Prairie Warbler, Prothonotary, N. Paula, Cape May, Black-throated Blue, American Redstart and others. An early Olive-sided Flycatcher was reported from the West Beach Trail north of Dune. A Golden-winged Warbler was found in Sleepy Hollow parking area and another was noted in Blue Heron. The birding for the weekend looks pleasant Good Birding, Alan Watson, Aaron Brisebois, Chris Earley, Dale Wenger, Dana Latour, Emma Burbidge, Eric Baldo, Gabriel Foley, Jean Iron, Justin Peter, Kyle Horner, Mike Kent, Pete Read, Quinten Wiegersma, Steward Macdonald, Tim Arthur, William Konze The 2024 Festival of Birds runs May 1 - 22.
