Observation start time: 09:00:00
Observation end time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 7 hours

Official Counter: Hugh Kent, Michael Arthurs

Observers: Liz Kent, Michael Arthurs, Noel Herdman, Paul Pratt

Visitors:
Big thanks to Michael for taking over the count in the afternoon. Thanks
also to Noel, mike and Paul for assistance in observing and counting. It
was good to meet Bonna and Rick - thanks for the conversation. It was good
to see Dennis again on the Tower with his camera and Mike.

Weather:
It was very gusty initially with a strong wind from the south west. The
wind remained from the south west but gradually decreasing in strength to a
light wind, turning west at the end of the afternoon. The temperature was
5c in the morning rising to 9c by the end of the day. Visibility was a bit
hazy but reasonable all day.

Raptor Observations:
A very quiet day made worthwhile by a Golden Eagle in the last half hour.
Three Red-tailed Hawks, two Cooper's Hawks and a Turkey Vulture made up the
day's total of 7.

Non-raptor Observations:
If it wasn't for the waterbirds it would be a short list today. The biggest
number of Ring-necked Ducks (8,170) for the season so far were on the
Marsh. Fourteen species were seen including Wood Duck (2) and American
Wigeon (2) which have been scarce of late. A single late Great Egret was
seen in the creek. The only small birds in any number were again American
Goldfinch (440). The list is at

Predictions:
Tomorrow's forecast is for a bright but cold day, with the temperature at
about 1c. There will be a moderate wind from the north. Hopefully that will
bring a few more raptors than today!
