Tom B, Tom S, Derek, Ken and Harold. Weather: Winds were light from the NE to start but unfortunately (as forecast) they backed around to the SE by late morning. Temps remain way to warm starting at 10C and getting to a high of 23C. Not much cloud today which made spotting the birds quite difficult. Raptor Observations: Not a bad flight today despite the less than ideal winds and tough sky. Total raptors for the day was 601 with mostly Sharpies (188) and An Kestrels (151) along the first TVs (221) they started counting today. A lone Osprey came through along with some N. Harriers (12), a few Peregrines (3) and Merlins (2) and some lagging Broadwings (2). Cooper's Hawks (12) and Redtails (9) are starting to move as well. Non-raptor Observations: None reported today. Predictions: Looks like a similar forecast tomorrow (Sunday) with very light N winds backing to the S or SW. This may bring some birds along the cliff but it's hard to say with the weather like this. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Dave Brown ([email protected]) Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch information may be found at: http://www.ezlink.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm More site information at hawkcount.org: https://hawkcount.org/siteinfo.php?rsite=392 -- Ontbirds and Birdnews are moderated email Listservs provided by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) as a service to all birders in Ontario.
