Weather: Lots of sun and variable clouds. Winds had a northerly component throughout that count period, with clouds indicating a robust NW higher up when the biggest numbers were coming through mid-morning. Raptor Observations: It's been a long time since there was a count day like today, with kettle after kettle of Broad-wings to push us well past 25,00o individuals. All other in-season species were represented, including a first-of-fall Red-shouldered. Non-raptor Observations: Passerines were fairly represented when observers dragged themselves away from the big show. eBird list here: https://ebird.org/checklist/S119299762 Predictions: Winds are forecast to shift S/SW, so Kestrels and Shins will probably continue to move, along with a few cliff-riders (Osprey, Harrier, Peregrine). ======================================================================== Report submitted by Chris Burris ([email protected]) Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch information may be found at: http://www.ezlink.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm More site information at hawkcount.org: https://hawkcount.org/siteinfo.php?rsite=392 -- Ontbirds and Birdnews are moderated email Listservs provided by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) as a service to all birders in Ontario.
