Weather: Cloudless and rather humid to begin the day; some cumulus moved in mid-morning as the humidity dropped. Wind was low moderate NNE/N with occasional gusts, weakening near end of count period. Raptor Observations: Sharp-shin and Broad-wing numbers are building, with a number of kettles of the latter in the 25-40 range. The wind appeared stiffer and quite northerly higher up, such that a couple of kettles drifted over the lake for a bit. Non-raptor Observations: 37 species overall (including raptors); most unusual was a flyby Greater Yellowlegs calling near the cliff proper. eBird list here: https://ebird.org/checklist/S118292646 Predictions: Wind is expected to begin weak NE and shift to S as the day progresses, so big numbers will probably not materialize. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Chris Burris ([email protected]) Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch information may be found at: http://www.ezlink.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm More site information at hawkcount.org: https://hawkcount.org/siteinfo.php?rsite=392 -- Ontbirds and Birdnews are moderated email Listservs provided by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) as a service to all birders in Ontario.
