Thanks for your interest in the hawk watch. Weather: Wind was moderate from the north with temperature around the low 20c. Overcast all day with visibility at about 5km. Drizzle started early morning and turned into rain at midday. Raptor Observations: Low numbers again today, despite the north wind but due to the rain. Highlight was an American Kestrel and Merlin passing close to the Tower. Non-raptor Observations: The day was brightened by a fall of warblers mid morning with 9 species seen, including a bright Northern Parula. Numbers generally lower with the exception of large numbers of Tree Swallow over the marsh. Ruby-throated Hummingbirds continue to come to the feeders in good numbers. The list is at https://ebird.org/checklist/S118107157 Predictions: Tomorrow the wind continues from the north with rain early in the morning and possibly at midday. It will remain overcast with temperatures again at low 20c. Hopefully less rain will see an increase in raptors flying. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Hugh Kent ([email protected]) Holiday Beach Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://hbmo.ca/ More site information at hawkcount.org: https://hawkcount.org/siteinfo.php?rsite=100 Count data submitted via Dunkadoo - Project info at: https://dunkadoo.org/explore/hbmo/hbmo-hawk-watch-fall-2022 -- Ontbirds and Birdnews are moderated email Listservs provided by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) as a service to all birders in Ontario.
