Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 9 hours

Official Counter: Stasso, Jacob

Observers: Chuck Sharbaugh, Hugh Kent, Jim McCoy, Kory Renaud,
Liz Kent, Michelle Mastellotto, Noel Herdman

Visitors:
We thank all today's observers for their outstanding efforts and those
interested in the ongoing Hawk Count. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, access
to the top level of Hawk Tower is limited to hawk counters and qualified
observers only. The 2nd and lower levels are open to the public practising
COVID-19 safe precautions (social distancing). Thank you for your
understanding and involvement.

Weather:
Today was consistently foggy and overcast with winds starting
north-westerly, shifting westerly and then ending back at north-westerly.
Temperatures had a low of 7 C and a high of 12 C. Large amounts of mist and
fogs significantly reduced visibility throughout the day.

Raptor Observations:
Heavy mist limited both visibility of raptors and raptor movements. Turkey
Vultures were significantly lower then yesterday with only 822. Sharpies
are lower but still prevalent at 123 observed. The majority of raptor
movement occurred within a 1 hour window of low mist/fog, here buteo
movement was present at 26 Red Shoulders and 38 Red Tails. Thanks to our
banders we were lucky to observe and release an immature Northern Goshawk
today. A Golden Eagle was also spotted far north at 11:15.

Non-raptor Observations:
Marsh count remains diverse and high with large numbers of waterfowl. Crow
movement remains at large with 6500 observed today, while Blue Jay movement
is declining with only 340 today. Blackbird movement was also very high
with 8000 Red-winged blackbirds, 225 Rusty Blackbirds and 180 Common
Grackles. No Monarchs were observed. To our surprise, a calling Red-eyed
Vireo was observed today.

Predictions:
Tomorrow it is expected to be slightly warmer with partly cloudy skies in
the morning instead of full cloud cover. Winds are expected to be a strong
easterly for all of the day. Hopefully the reduced movement today promotes
added movement tomorrow with the warmer temperatures and clear conditions.
