Observation start time: 09:00:00
Observation end time: 11:30:00
Total observation time: 2.5 hours

Official Counter: Chris Burris

Observers:

Visitors:
Thanks to Chris B for providing a count from today. I didn't receive any
other count report although I believe there were a couple of others there
counting into the afternon so if they wish to add to this report please
email the contact email on the Hawk Cliff Hawk Watch website.

Weather:
The temp climbed from 13C to 17C. The wind was gentle from the N (about 10
km/h) initially but basically died in the transition to the third hour. The
sky was an unrelenting blue throughout, meaning lots of high birds that
were often difficult to spot and track.

Raptor Observations:
Things looked good early – small kettles of Broad-winged Hawks were still
moving through along with respectable numbers of Sharp-shinned Hawks and
Northern Harriers. Turkey Vultures are also clearly beginning to evacuate.
But when the wind died, the sky emptied. The stable flies stayed. The
official counter did not.

Non-raptor Observations:
Non-raptors included: Red-breasted Nuthatch, Golden-crowned Kinglet,
Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Winter Wren, Blue Jay, and
American Goldfinch.
