Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 8 hours

Observers: Hugh Kent, Liz Kent

Visitors:
We thank today's observers and those interested in the ongoing Hawk Count.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, access to the top level of Hawk Tower is
limited to hawk counters and qualified observers only. The 2nd and lower
levels are open to the public practising COVID-19 safe precautions (social
distancing). Thank you for your understanding and involvement.

Weather:
Day was consistently sunny with varying levels of cloud cover. Temperatures
were consistently mid 20's. Winds shifted from North-Easterly in the
morning to Southerly int he afternoon, making raptor movement over Holiday
less favourable during the later hours.

Raptor Observations:
Moderate morning for raptor observations with a good amount of Sharp
Shinned movement (30) and also minor Broad-Wing movement. Afternoon hours
became less active as winds shifted to southerly, however Bald Eagles and a
variety of Kestrel/Merlins were observed migrating. Ospreys and Northern
Harriers were also observed migrating.

Non-raptor Observations:
Relatively slow day for nonraptor birds, with minimal warbler species and
low amounts of other passerine movements except for blackbirds. Egret
colony has diminished as they likely changed locations. Monarch numbers
were relatively high for the second day in a row, with 182 observations.

Predictions:
Tomorrow it is expected to be sunny with some clouds and temperatures
around mid-high 20's. Winds are expected to shift back and forth from
southerly to south-westerly, making raptor observation for tomorrow less
ideal since raptors will be pushed more inland.
