It was a good birding day, sunny but with a cool breeze in the morning. 
Temperatures were fairly steady around minus 12 C. The four bigger lakes all 
had open water, as did the river. Snow was 10 cm maximum and less most places. 
Preliminary results follow.

 

Total Observers: 41

Total Species: 40 (average is 38)

Total Individuals: 3303 (average is 3020)

New Species for the Count: Tundra Swan (1) and Great Horned Owl (1), both 
photographed.

New High Counts: Common Raven (174) and Hoary Redpoll (8), the latter 
photographed.

Unusual Species for this Count: Golden Eagle (Count Week), Belted Kingfisher 
(2), Song Sparrow (1) and White-throated Sparrow (2)

Finches: Evening Grosbeak (22), Pine Grosbeak (129), Red Crossbill (1), Common 
Redpoll (49), Hoary Redpoll (8) and American Goldfinch (6)
