Ontbirds subscribers: Just finished chatting with Denise and her husband. Where we ended off, was: "We don't want to keep you guys from seeing the little guy, just don't want to see you (birders) and don't wish to be seen by you (birders)." Nice to end on a good note. However, here's the new strategy moving forward, and I thank birding friends for chiming in with their recommendations on this. What I will do is purchase a bag of mixed millet seed and bring out a garbage bin to the site. I will place the millet in the garbage bin and leave the container just slightly in the NCC woods, to the N of Denise and her neighbour's homes. I will drop the seed on the well-padded pathway (I'll create an even wider feeding area) just slightly N of the neighbour's house, where birders can view the ground feeder from a distance, and, importantly, out of view of the neighbour's homes.
