Weather: There was some sun breaking through the clouds in the morning and late afternoon but it was mostly cloudy all day. Light winds were from the south southwest but shifted southeast in the late afternoon. Temperatures were around 5 C. Raptor Observations: It was a slow day for raptor migration. [4] Red-tailed Hawks were observed including one that came back and stayed for a while before moving on. An adult Coppers Hawk and a Sharp-shinned Hawk flew over today. A Merlin was also observed moving up the beach. [3] Bald Eagles were seen around the marsh today. Non-raptor Observations: An adult and an immature Great Black-backed Gull were observed. Many flocks of Pine Siskin and American Goldfinch were flying over today. More Mute Swans have returned to the now unfrozen marsh. https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S50218389 Predictions: Rain is forecast for much of the morning and is expected to change to mixed precipitation in the afternoon. The possibility of precipitation decreases however in the afternoon.
