John Barnes and a couple from La Salle made it up the tower today.


Weather:
There was thick fog to begin the morning that eventually cleared off but
there was overcast skies in the afternoon. Very light winds were mostly
from the southwest, although they circled northwest and east for a small
period in late morning. Temperatures remained a few degrees above 0 C and
visibility remained relatively poor.  

Raptor Observations:
Most of the action today occurred around late morning and early afternoon.
An immature Golden Eagle was observed flying low over the tower. (67)
Red-tailed Hawks and (11) Red-shouldered Hawks were migrating in decent
numbers. (2) Sharp-shinned Hawks, a Coopers Hawk, a Northern Harrier and an
American Kestrel were seen today. (2) local Bald Eagles were also around.

Non-raptor Observations:
26 Sandhill Cranes were heard and observed flying over the tower. The marsh
is still mostly free of ice again and many ducks were around. A Carolina
Wren can still be heard calling frequently.

Predictions:
Tomorrow should be mostly sunny skies, especially in the afternoon with
northwest winds forecast all day. The temperature will be around 0 C. It
could be a good day!
