Weather: It was mostly cloudy to start the day with light winds from the west and a temperature around 3 C. Temperatures warmed slightly, cloud cover increased and the winds shifted to the southwest in the afternoon. Raptor Observations: A light morph adult SWAINSON'S HAWK was observed today, the second in just over the past week!! An adult Golden Eagle flew over the tower today and circled above before moving on. 4 light morph Rough-legged Hawks were observed. (96) Red-tailed Hawks and (17) Red-shouldered Hawks were also coming through in good numbers. Most of this action took place between 10:00 am and noon. Non-raptor Observations: An all white gull was observed today. ID TBD. 2 Common Goldeneye were observed on the lake. The marsh had thawed and many more ducks were around today. In addition, a huge raft of ducks was observed far on out on the lake, too far to positively ID. Ebird checklist pending. Predictions: Winds are expected from the north overnight and into tomorrow with some mixed precipitation in the morning and cloudy skies in the afternoon.
