I was pleased to be out on my deck filling the bird feeders when 5 separate
flocks totaling 120 Sandhill Cranes flew right over the yard in the heart of
Bradford. We usually have a pair or two nesting north of town, but I have never
encountered this many in the 30 years we have lived here. They were headed west
perhaps to roost in one of the local corn fields and were calling the entire
time. The flocks were seen just south of Holland St. west of Highway 11 north
of the 6th Line of Bradford West Gwillimbury at about 11:45 AM.
