Observation start time: 09:00:00
Observation end time: 15:30:00
Total observation time: 6.5 hours

Official Counter: Craig Evans

Observers: Dorothy McLeer

Visitors:
Two visitors, as well as a group of approximately 8 people led by Paul
Pratt almost made it up the tower today but the strong winds and slow
migration discouraged most from making the attempt. Dorothy McLeer joined
me on the tower for the final 1.5 hours.

Weather:
Temperatures began at -2.4 C but felt much cooler with the strong southwest
winds. There were snow flurries during the first and final hour. Winds
remained southwest much of the day with about an hour of west southwest
winds that never shifted to the northwest as predicted. It was 100% cloud
cover basically the whole day. Temperatures rose to a high of 1.3 C and the
winds diminished slightly. Humidity was between 70 and 80 percent.
Barometric pressure rose consistently throughout the day beginning at 29.94
In Hg and ending at 30.06 In Hg.

Raptor Observations:
It was a relatively slow day at the tower for raptor migration. (16)
Red-tailed Hawks and (2) adult Red-shouldered Hawks were observed. (4) Bald
Eagles, (2) Sharp-shinned Hawks and a Coopers Hawk were also observed. The
Osprey and 2 local Bald Eagles continue flying around the area.

Non-raptor Observations:
Tundra Swans were flying over all day. A large raft of mostly Greater Scaup
was observed in the middle of the marsh.

Predictions:
Tomorrow should be mostly cloudy with temperatures around the freezing
point and moderate winds from the southwest.
