Highlights: Things picked up somewhat this week with a number of interesting sightings. Here are the highlights of the last 7 days: BRANT - the only birds seen this week were 3 on Landing's Golf Course, Kingston, on 30th. TRUMPETER SWAN - just out of the area at Narrows Locks, this species is already building up in numbers with 40 birds seen on 31st. TUNDRA SWAN - Birds are now regular in the area, with a high counts (65-70) at Button Bay, Wolfe Island and Cataraqui Bay, Kingston. RUDDY DUCK - just small numbers so far this year, with 5 seen in Kingston's Inner Harbour on 29th. YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO - a late bird found at Belle Park, Kingston on 26th was also seen on 27th. WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER - 5 birds (3 + 2) were seen at Button bay and Reed's Bay, Wolfe Island, on 27th. LITTLE GULL - just out of the area at Point Petre, Prince Edward, a lone 2nd-year bird was seen on 31st. PACIFIC LOON - just outside the area, a single bird was observed flying past Point Petre on 31st. A total of 8 RED-THROATED LOONS (RTLO) were also noted at the same site along with 15 COMMON LOONS. RTLO were also seen at Finkle's Shore, Bath, on 30th, and in Kingston's Inner Harbour on 2nd. BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON - 2 birds were still present at Invista, Kingston, on 30th. GOLDEN EAGLE - a single bird was seen at Belle Park, Kingston, on 29th. ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK - just 2 birds were seen this week, on Wolfe Island on 2nd. SNOWY OWL - the single bird at Martin Edwards Reserve, Amherst Island, continues and was seen on 20th. NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL - the final tally for birds banded at the station this year was 554. EVENING GROSBEAK - birds continued to be seen across the area in small numbers with 1-12 on Wolfe Island, Howe Island, Millhaven, Brewers Mills, Chaffey's Locks, Crosby and Prince Edward Point. PINE SISKIN - there were continuing widespread sightings across the area this week, in reasonable numbers. COMMON REDPOLL - birds were seen near Verona almost daily this week, and were also noted at Crosby on 27th. BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER - a late bird was seen at Heritage Point, Bath on 28th.
