Ontbirds Subscriber’s:

I have just photographed and studied a very interesting “Solitary” Vireo.
The bird was no more than 10 meters from me, foraging out in the open. It
appears to be essentially a textbook Cassin’s in appearance as far as I can
in the field. Because Cassin’s/Blue-headed is a contentious ID, I won’t be
making the call...at least at the moment. I’ve managed some useful record
shots, which I’ll upload to my eBird list later today. I wished to share
the sighting immediately so others could possibly refind the bird and
decide on its ID for themselves.

Location: I am located on County Road 12, just west of the permit office at
Sandbanks, Outlet Beach site. My exact pin at this moment is: (43.9075355,
-77.2406144). The bird was found just N of this pin and was slowly working
its way NW along the tree line. It was foraging no higher than 5 ft from
the ground, preferring 2-3 ft off the ground. Very slowly moving along the
tree line, all by itself (not a mixed flock).
