greeting birders to the south we have recently been seeing large numbers
of common redpolls in the area our banding station has banded 91 which is
unheard of at this time of the year. We have currently banded over 2000
pine siskins which must be showing up in southern Ontario by now. In
addition northern shrikes are easy to find driving in suitable habitat. We
have been lucky to band 11 boreal chickadees which we do not get every
year. Birders may find it interesting that our owl banding efforts have
resulted in 12 boreal owls being banded and the northern sawwhet wave has
passed threw and should be nestled on the shores of lake Ontario and Erie
by now

Hilliardton marsh is located 500 km north of Toronto 20 km north east of
New Likseard . If you have any questions about birds in the boreal please
contact me off list.
