Kingston Field Naturalists (KFN) maintains records in a 50km radius of
MacDonald Park, Kingston. Birders using eBird are encouraged to share their
sightings with 'Kingston FN'. Alternatively, please email or post records
directly to me - contact details below. Please note that some sightings may
require review and remain unconfirmed unless stated otherwise.

 

Highlights:

Things picked up somewhat this week with a number of interesting sightings.
Here are the highlights of the last 7 days:

 

SNOW GOOSE - not much sign of this species in the area other than a single
flock of 350 seen at Gananoque on 16th.

CACKLING GOOSE - a total of 14 birds (3 + 11) were seen on Wolfe Island on
14th.

BRANT - a number of reports including a single on Amherst Island on 14th,
with 48 there on 16th, 50 in Kingston on 16th and 250 at Morton on 15th.

TUNDRA SWAN - Twenty four birds were present on Wolfe Island on 14th, with a
further 4 birds seen in Kingston throughout the week.

RED-NECKED GREBE - a single bird was seen on Amherst Island on 14th.

RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD - a bird continued at a feeder at Waupoos, Prince
Edward until 15th at least.

LITTLE GULL - singles were seen at Prince Edward Point on 13th and at
Amherstview Sewage Lagoons on 18th.

RED-THROATED LOON - slightly out of the area, 3 birds were seen at Little
Bluff CA, Prince Edward on 18th.

GOLDEN EAGLE - a single was seen at Prince Edward Point on 13th.

NORTHERN GOSHAWK - birds were seen in Kingston on 13th and at Prince Edward
Point on 13th and 18th.

ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK - singles were seen on Wolfe Island on 13th and at Prince
Edward Point on 18th.

SNOWY OWL - the single bird at Martin Edwards Reserve continues and was seen
on 14th.

RED-HEADED WOODPECKER - an immature bird continued at a private feeder at
Bedford Mills until 14th.

EVENING GROSBEAK - singles were noted at Bedford Mills from 15th - 17th,
Verona on 16th and Kingston on 17th. Several birds have been present at
Prince Edward Point for a number of days.

PINE SISKIN - fewer sightings this week but birds still present in the area.

HOODED WARBLER - a great find on the OFO outing to Amherst Island on 14th!
