For the past two days, Brant geese have been foraging on the grass at
Andrew Haydon Park. Today, the flock numbered approx. 90 birds. They are
reliable at the west end of the park, near the shoreline of the Ottawa
River at Graham Bay. Sometimes they are on the westernmost inner pond, as
well. Over the past few days, I've tallied Brant as they've migrated past
my vantage point and have seen only one juvenile. When a flock of Brant
approach Andrew Haydon Park, they often swirl around a few times before
landing, availing good views of the upperparts for ageing. The single
juvenile joined the adults onshore and is currently foraging on the grass
with them. Not a rare occurrence here in Ottawa by any means, but an FYI to
those interested in enjoying Brant up close. Please do not hesitate to send
a text for an update on their status.

Directions: Andrew Haydon Park is located off of Carling Avenue. At the
lights, enter the park and turn left immediately. Continue to the western
parking area, then walk north to the western pond and north again to the
shoreline of the Ottawa River.

Good birding,
Jon
