Visitors:
Thanks for many visitors on a Thanksgiving Sunday.
- Christine Roarke and Raul Mitro visiting friends in Amherstburg.
- The Waterloo Ladies.
- Francine Gilbert and Jim Huffman from Kitchener. (Eat your heart out
Kitchener Birding Club.)
- And the many others that braved the weather and the climb to view the
marsh and distance Vultures. Thanks.
Weather:
Wind North 3-7 mph; Temperature hovered around 16 C; Humidity steady 83%;
Pressure 30.01 mm Hg; 100% cloud cover; No precipitation.
Raptor Observations:
As expected the flight started slowly with Vultures being dominate species
(1,926). Sharpies (166) became numberous with 16-25 during third and fifth
hour of count with 32, 40, 36, 5 in last hours. Kestrels were 2-17
throughout the day with individuals seen every hour for a total of 62
birds. The surprise was the Broad-winged Hawk numbers (60) with 3-18
spotted from hour 2 through hour 7.
A very good day of north winds giving us fair views of birds. TVs were very
high at times and BW enjoyed using the same 'weak' thermals.
Non-raptor Observations:
10,880 Blue Jays. (Currently over 310,000 Blue Jays tallied for the 2018
season!
One Ross's Goose sighted. 15 American Wigeon spotted and could be heard
calling with their high pitch whistle. Swifts (30) and Tree Swallows (60)
still in high numbers. Only one Palm and one Yellow-rumped Warblers
observed.
See eBird for further numbers of non-raptors:

Predictions:
