as predicted by Ron pittaways winter finch forecast the timiskaming area
has seen a huge influx in siskins . The hilliardton marsh research and
education center has banded over 800 individual siskins. Recently numbers
have been dropping off suggesting they are on the move. I apologize if this
has already been posted I have recently moved and just have returned to
ontbirds today. To visit the hilliardton marsh travel 500 km north of
toronto on hwy 11 then proceed 12 km on hwy 569 just north of newliskeard.
Happy birding. We are also seeing a small irruption of red breasted
nuthatches and today we banded 2 boreal chickadees which is the first time
we have done so in 6 years . happy birding we will keep the list apprised
of other winter finch appearances
