The weather was not for the faint of heart. Weather: Another hot and muggy summer day with high humidity and southerly winds bringing unwelcome heat to our neighborhood. Raptor Observations: Not too many birds on the wing but at least we saw a few that were migratory and could be counted with confidence. Non-raptor Observations: Purple Martins and swallows were the most common other birds in the air. Cedar Waxwings were hawking insects in front of us. Gulls of mixed heritage were kettling and hawking insects too. Predictions: Perhaps even worse than today with excessive heat for early September. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Detroit River Hawk Watch (jerry.jour...@gmail.com) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org More site information at hawkcount.org: http://hawkcount.org/siteinfo.php?rsite=285 _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
