Birding in the Point Pelee area continues to be a success on this third day of
the Festival of Birds, despite some heavy rainfall last night and this morning.
It is worth noting that certain areas, particularly the Woodland Trail and the
road going south from the Visitor Centre are a bit flooded today, though most
other trails are fine for walking and the tram is still shuttling visitors to
The Tip where the trails are not flooded.

Most of the Park's forest habitat was filled with singing warblers, vireos, and
sparrows this morning. Cactus Field presented birders with highlights including
Blue-winged Warbler, Orange-crowned Warbler, Cape May Warbler, and Solitary
Sandpiper. Prothonotary Warblers have been seen in a few locations today
including Woodland Trail and Post Woods. A Grasshopper Sparrow and White-eyed
Vireo were found near the south end of the West Beach parking lot. A Sora was
found near the end of Shuster Trail and a Tundra Swan was seen flying over
Tilden Woods. A Yellow-breasted Chat found yesterday on the Woodland Trail was
seen again today as well.

Later in the day yesterday (May 2) a Summer Tanager was seen by many near
Sanctuary, and 56 Willets, 7 Marbled Godwits, and 2 American Avocets were at
Hillman Marsh in the Shorebird Cell until dark.

Birding is very productive in the Point Pelee area in recent days as expected!

Good Birding,
