The Townsend’s Solitaire in Port Hope had been seen every day since its
discovery on April 28 but it often disappears for an hour or more at a time
requiring a great deal of patience.
It is frequenting a pasture field studded with small trees on the south side of
Choate Road mostly between house numbers 5664 and 5603 but moving about the
area quite widely.
It seems to be most active from about 10am - 2pm.
Viewing is from the south side of Choate Road – please don’t go onto private
property.

Today, April 30, it was seen for about 10 minutes shortly after 10 am, feeding
in a copse of small trees behind/beside a large red garage at #5603, but then
disappeared again.
It has been giving distinctive call notes from time to time as well.

Directions: Leave Hwy.401 at Port Hope/Welcome Exit 461, to go north on
Cty.Rd.2 for about 1km to Dale Road – turn right on Dale Road and then right
again onto Choate Road in less than 1km.
Choate Road runs southeast from Dale Road and soon crosses Cranberry Road
bringing you almost at once to the target area.
