Weather: Another nice fall day with temps hitting a high of 7C and a hazy mix of sun of cloud to start with more sunshine as the day wore on. Winds were as promised from the NE and N for the day. Raptor Observations: Another nice flight today with a total of 679 birds with the highlights again Golden Eagles (17). Of these, 14 crossed through between 10:00 - 11:00 hour... and we had some long distance visitors (a couple from North Carolina and another couple from Dundas ON) who came with hopes to see Golden Eagles and they no sooner had arrived than these birds went through. Lots of other species as well for another great day of hawk watching. Non-raptor Observations: None reported for the day. Predictions: Winds are predicted to start out NW but then a supposed to go straight W which usually shuts down the flight. Thursday is predicted to bring WSW winds which will also limit the flight. Friday may be better with NW winds BUT they're calling for possible snow squalls that may reach all the way down to the Hawk Cliff area. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Dave Brown ([email protected]) Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch information may be found at: http://www.ezlink.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm More site information at hawkcount.org: http://hawkcount.org/siteinfo.php?rsite=392 _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
