Visitors:
Lots up on the tower today! Most happy with the flight they saw! Many got
amazing looks at a young Goshawk right over the tower, and several got good
looks at Goldens and Roughies!
Weather:
A good north wind along with moderate cloud cover made for an excellent
day!
Raptor Observations:
Stellar day on the tower today! 4365 Raptors counted total, 3340 being
Turkey Vultures. An excellent count of many/most species. One of the local
Osprey finally left today! 22 Bald Eagles!! 326 Sharpies!! 3 Northern
Goshawks (excellent, super close looks!)!!!! 227 Red-shoulders!! 387
Red-tails (104 in the last hour)!! 7 Roughies (5 were dark morph!)!! AND 11
Golden Eagles!!! A super busy and awesome day!!
Non-raptor Observations:
Little time was spent on non-raptors as the hawks kept us busy the whole
day! Th putative Eurasian x American Wigeon hybrid was seen again today;
many people got on it. 7800 American Crows were counted, but this is well
under-counted. Thousands of blackbirds migrated over today as well. Full
eBird checklist viewable here:
http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S40292512?share=true Another Monarch
seen today!
Predictions:
East and southeast winds with rain in the afternoon.
