Official Counter: Jennifer Lyon, Mary Carnahan
Observers: Cary Graham, Derek Lyon, Don Campbell, Keith Sealy,
Mary Carnahan
Visitors:
Thanks to Jen and Derek, Mary, Don C, Cary and Keith for doing today's
count... and there were a couple of visitors on the report... Denis and
Bev.
Weather:
Mostly sunny skies and VERY WARm with a high to 29C but feeling like 37C
with the humidex. Winds were OK to start from the NE and light but slowly
moved around through E to SE again today.
Raptor Observations:
A total of 128 birds today... the counters actually had some views of
Broadwings to the north while others were out in front and passed right
overhead Some good views of harriers and osprey as well.
Non-raptor Observations:
Some non-raptors reported today... Wood Duck, Song Sparrow, Gray Catbirds,
RT Hummingbirds, Belted Kingfisher, Cedar Waxwings, Red-bellied and Hairy
Woodpecker along with N. Flickers, Great Blue Heron, Black-throated Blue
Warbler and Great Crested Flycatcher. Also 96 Blue Jays were tallied
today.
Monarchs counted: 65
Along with Orange Sulphur and Green Darner.
AND those wonderful Canadian SNOWBIRDS who were in the area for practice
for this weekend's LONDON AIRSHOW!!
Predictions:
Tomorrow is EXACTLY the same as the past several days with E to SE and S
winds and VERY HOT. I would expect the same kind of flight as was observed
today. And unfortunately, it's looking the same for the entire weekend!
NOTE that this is the 2nd of our OPEN HOUSE weekends coming up but it's
going to be even HOTTER!!
