Kingston Field Naturalists (KFN) maintains records in a 50km radius of
MacDonald Park, Kingston. Birders using eBird are encouraged to share their
sightings with 'Kingston FN'. Alternatively, please email or post records
directly to me - contact details below. Please note that some sightings may
require review and remain unconfirmed unless stated otherwise.

 

Highlights:

Prince Edward Point has, as usual, been productive this week with a good
number and variety of passage migrants. Kaiser Cross Road yesterday (14th)
held American Golden Plover, Pectoral and Stilt Sandpipers. Here are the
highlights of the last week:

 

SNOW GOOSE - more early birds were seen this week, this time north of
Kingston on Sand Hill Road on 11th and on Amherst Island on 13th. Both were
singles.

WESTERN SANDPIPER - a single bird was seen at Kaiser Cross Road, Prince
Edward County, on 7th. Details have been sent to OBRC.

RED-HEADED WOODPECKER - an immature bird was seen at Big Sandy Bay, Wolfe
Island on 15th.

NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD - 4 birds were seen on Amherst Island on 13th with 2 at
Martin Edwards Reserve and another 2 on Front Road.

CONNECTICUT WARBLER - a very respectable 6 birds were banded at Prince
Edward Point Bird Observatory this week, with 2 birds on 14th.

WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW - the first bird of the season was seen near Gananoque
on 15th.
