Highlights: Unlike the first week of May, the second week has certainly seen some great birds come through, particularly at the migration hotspot of Prince Edward Point and surrounds. Here are the highlights of the last week: BRANT - multiple reports over the period, in a typical narrow band centred on Kingston. The largest single flock was 470 seen at Amherst Island on 6th. CHUCK-WILLS-WIDOW - although just outside the area, a bird was heard calling along Hilltop Road, Prince Edward County on 10th and 11th. This is presumably the same bird as first reported in 2013. CAROLINA WREN - a continuing bird was seen at Ravensview on 13th. GREY-CHEEKED THRUSH - An early bird was seen at Marshlands CA, Kingston on 13th. LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH - the usual bird has been seen regularly this week along Canoe Lake Road. LAWRENCE'S WARBLER - a good-looking individual was seen at Prince Edward Point on 12th. HOODED WARBLER - a cracking male bird was found at Prince Edward Point on 14th. PRAIRIE WARBLER - A single, possibly continuing bird, was seen well at Prince Edward Point on 12th. An earlier bird was seen at the same location on 7th and 8th. ORCHARD ORIOLE - Birds were seen at Elginburg and Prince Edward Point on 10th, Amherst Island on 12th, and Lemoine Point, Kingston on 13th. In order to minimise disturbance to wildlife and property in the recording area, Kingston Field Naturalists has adopted the KFN Sensitive Sightings Policy <http://kingstonfieldnaturalists.org/birding/KFN_sensitive_sightings_policy. pdf> . Please note that you must be a member of Kingston Field Naturalists (KFN) or be accompanied by a member to access the Martin Edwards Reserve. As always, a big thank you goes to all who have submitted sightings over the last week. Mark. Mark D.
