Just a little follow up to my post. I am fairly confident when I ruled out a
Brant with no collar, neck too long and this goose has an obvious colour
transition mid way up neck. Regarding Dark phase Juvenile Snow Goose it had no
white in underwing coverts or auxiliaries. As for possible juvenile
White-fronted including Greenland subspecies, the bill of this goose was very
dark and seen in direct sunlight. I just want someone else to see it to discuss
what field marks they observed to be conclusive. A photo would be nice. I am
not trying to play guess this bird I just don't want to come out and say I
think I saw a Pink-Footed Goose with so many domestic/Eurasian goose cross
breeds and escapees. As a heads up, the Kellogg farm in Michigan has cross bred
Trumpeter Swans with Whooper swans and the result is a very yellow upper bill.
Reports of Whooper Swans with a tag are probably one of these crossbreeds
called "Trooper Swans" Some have been seen in Michigan away from the farm in
Batt
le Creek already. Your never know the origin of some of these birds.
