Thanks to Jean Iron for finding the Black Headed Gull a lifer for me. With the help of a friend Stephan Menu who gave a wonderful description of the flight of the bird as it flew around the whirlpool rapids a number times and a few of the Bruce Birders were able to follow as he described the flight of the bird as it soared around the whirlpool for quite a few minutes and as it tipped and banked and swirled over the waters we caught glimpses of the black underwing tips of the wings which gave us fantastic sights with enough evidence to ID the species. This was a great weekend, a little on the cool side but great any way. Mike Pickup, Southampton and a Bruce Birding Club member
