Observation start time: 09:00:00
Observation end time: 13:00:00
Total observation time: 4 hours
Official Counter: Dustin Brewer
Observers: Andrew Sturgess, Don Sherwood, Raburn Howland,
Rosemary Brady
Visitors:
Paul and Mark stopped by to join us today.
Weather:
Fog obstructed our view for most of the count today. Conditions were
overcast from beginning to end, and winds always had a westerly component.
A light drizzle fell for most of the day.
Raptor Observations:
In four hours of counting today, zero migrating raptors were counted.
Rather than migrating, maybe they overcame their innate behaviors, gathered
with family, and feasted together on a big bird. Or maybe the precipitation
deterred movement... We did spot a Cooper's Hawk that appeared to be a
local.
Non-raptor Observations:
Migrating Common Mergansers were spotted, as well as Mallards. A Carolina
Wren provided song for us to listen to.
Predictions:
Tomorrow will probably be very similar to today, weather-wise. That could
mean that few birds, if any, will be moving. They might all decide to go
shopping.
