Hi there, Earlier this afternoon Andrew Keaveney emailed some photos of a very interesting Red-tailed Hawk. We discussed the identification of the bird and identified it as an adult Red-tailed x Red-shouldered Hawk. I sent an email to raptor expert, Jerry Liguori, and he confirmed the identification.
I have posted Andrew's photos and our analysis/comments here: http://eontbird.ca/?p=3994 Directions: the bird was located alongside County Road 2, approximately 1 km W of Howe Island Ferry Rd, just west of Gananoque. This location can be accessed via the 401 by taking exits 645 (coming from the east) or 632 (coming from the west) and heading south to County Rd. 2. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
