Observation start time: 08:00:00
Observation end time: 15:30:00
Total observation time: 7.5 hours

Official Counter: Dustin Brewer

Observers: Andrew Sturgess, Don Sherwood, Patrick Mulawa,
                  Raburn Howland, Rosemary Brady

Visitors:
There was a very nice group of visitors today, including at least 10 at one
time. Their eyes were very helpful because of the large number of raptors
in the sky.

Weather:
Even when the temperature was cold this morning, we were comfortable
because the wind was light and not blowing in our faces. As the temperature
increased, the calm day became very pleasant.

Raptor Observations:
Unlike yesterday, we did not have time to linger our gazes upon each
Red-tailed Hawk, because there were so many to count! We had more of these
Buteos fly over today (276) than any day yet this season. Today was our
best day yet for Golden Eagles, too, with eleven total spotted. To make the
day even better, we had our first Rough-legged Hawks of the season!! Two
dark morphs flew right over us, offering great looks at these beautiful
birds.

Non-raptor Observations:
We had 18 Blue Jays, 360+ Red-winged Blackbirds, 800 + American Crows,
about 10 House Finches, and several Rusty Blackbirds fly over today.

Predictions:
Tomorrow is predicted to be cloudy, with a strong southwest wind which
might push the flight line to the north of us. Accipiters often fly
straight through such wind, so it would be nice for the biggest Accipiter,
the Northern Goshawk, to make its first appearance at our site tomorrow!
