Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 9 hours

Official Counter: Sean Jenniskens

Observers: Dave Martin, Linda Wladarski, Michael Williamson

Visitors:
A few visitors today, though unfortunately most of the birds were fairly
distant and didn't give great views.

Weather:
Very little wind most of the day, didn't seem like enough to effect the
flight greatly. Wispy clouds for most of the day helped with picking out
birds!

Raptor Observations:
Was a little worrisome first thing this morning when there were only 2
birds in the first 2 hours, then just 3 more in the third, but at shortly
after 11am local time, things started to pick up...well for a little over
an hour or so anyway, then it got dead again. But after several hours with
a slow trickle of birds, a big movement came around 3pm local time, and
lasted about two hours steady, only problem was most of this movement was
way to the North, and not even visible through binoculars for the most
part. Ended up with good numbers of Turkey Vultures, Red-shouldered and
Red-tailed Hawks.

Non-raptor Observations:
Though the first two hour of the count were slow for raptors, there were
lots of migrating passerines. We got our first push of American Crows with
209, and 4,470 Blue Jays also migrated over. A total of 62 Killdeer
migrated past the tower today also. 8 Eastern Bluebirds, 104 American
Robins, about 2,400 Red-winged Blackbirds, 208 Rusty Blackbirds, 37 Common
Grackles, 84 Brown-headed Cowbirds, 1,320 unidentified Blackbirds, 32 House
Finch, 37 Purple Finch, and 431 American Goldfinch were all counted
migrating West over the Hawk Tower today. For the full eBird checklist, go
to http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S32116289 One Black Saddlebag, and
6 Monarchs were observed.

Predictions:
Northerly winds all day, but rain is also in the forecast all day.
